APPENDIX III Verbal Agreement
My project explores identity, memory and health among Guatemalan men in Toronto and Southern Ontario. My aim is to better understand the health and resettlement experiences of Guatemalan men in these locations. My project involves interviews and conversations with Guatemalan men, as well as participation in activities in the Guatemalan community. My fieldwork is complemented by academic and activist literature on refugee health and identity, as well as ethnographic studies with Guatemalans in Canada and the United States. I will answer any questions you may have about the procedures and objectives of the project. You are free to withdraw consent and to discontinue participation in the project at any time. If you decide to leave the project, all data of your participation will be destroyed. You are also free to refuse to answer specific questions. You are permitted access to any information collected from this interview/conversation and have the right to view the completed project (estimated completion date: April 2000). All information derived from this interview/conversation will be kept confidential with the researcher; and your anonymity will be protected through the use of a pseudonym.
